This is a song that was recorded on the fly, the way I used to make music before I sat down and wrote out the lyrics. Hit record, let the tape run, see what happens.

The morning after Trump's election I was driving to work and saw a deer on the side of the road with its guts spilled out over the pavement; an image I had seen before but had somehow struck a chord on this particular morning. When I got to work I pulled out a blank book I hadn't written in yet and just started to write about it. I also wrote what my head and heart were feeling that day. Fear, uncertainty, disappointment.

This is my immediate reaction to everything I've seen and heard in the news over the last 2 months. It's a bit of a narrative, reflecting on friends of mine who have seriously considered or are looking into moving out of the country due to its upside down status.

I won't say much more here. Say something if you need to say it.
